UCF provides an opportunity for its Computer Science (CS) undergraduates to earn their Bachelors and Masters Degrees (BS+MS) in five years and, where appropriate, the Ph.D. in an additional two to three years. This is achieved by allowing students to dual count 12 credit hours of 5000- or 6000-level courses with B or better grades towards both the BS and MS requirements in CS.

Eligibility:

Students who are eligible to enroll in the Accelerated Graduate Program must meet the following two requirements:

1. Completion of the sophomore year (after the completion of 60 credit hours and before the completion of 90 credit hours towards CS majors); this requirement includes having passed the Computer Science Foundation Exam.
2. Must have GPA 3.5, and sustain it throughout their Undergraduate studies.

Timeline for an BS+MS Student

1. Upon completing the 60th Credit Hour toward a BS degree in CS, apply for the BS+MS track by completing and submitting an intent form available at: http://www.cecs.ucf.edu/academics/acceleratedbstomsprograms.php.
2. Junior year: Take GRE.
3. Fall semester of senior year in the BS+MS program: Take classes that count towards both BS and MS programs and complete online application to the graduate program: https://www.students.graduate.ucf.edu/gradonlineapp/.
4. Spring and Summer semesters of senior year as a BS+MS student: Continue taking classes that count towards both BS and MS programs. Receive BS degree.
5. Last Year as a BS+MS student (Graduate level): Finish course-work. Receive MS degree.

Additional Notes

1. Note 1: It is important to declare your intent to enter this track before registering for any courses that satisfy the CS Restricted Electives. To complete the BS+MS Track within the five-year time frame, it will be necessary to satisfy the BS Electives with CS graduate courses required for the MS program.
2. Note 2: If you are interested in financial support (during your MS years) you must complete a thesis in the MS portion of your BS+MS program. We advise you to contact a faculty member in the School of EECS who will serve as your research advisor. It is best if you get involved with a research advisor during your undergraduate years (as early as possible).
3. Note 3: To obtain a typical program of study of the fourth and fifth year of a BS+MS program, please contact the CS graduate program coordinator.
4. Note 4: If you have exceeded 90 hours in your undergraduate program and are interested in the Accelerated Masters program, please contact the CS graduate program coordinator.
5. Note 5: There are opportunities for graduate studies in CS in addition to the Accelerated Masters program. In particular, if you are interested in the CS Ph.D. programs, the School of EECS offers a number of opportunities for complete financial support packages during your Ph.D. studies. For more details, please contact the CS program graduate coordinator.
6. Note 6: If you have or intend to graduate and work in the UCF vicinity, you may wish to consider a part-time Masters program in CS. Similar to the BS+MS program described above, up to 9 credit hours of 5000 level course work with grades of B or better may be transferred into the MS program from the BS program.
